Starting off the year on a high note, Faultlines has released their new single "Save Us", available on all streaming platforms on March 6th. The single brings a lot of emotion and power from both voices throughout the track. The record is vulnerable yet strong in the sense of being centered around popular cultural issues. When John Flanagan began writing lyrics for this track he was inspired by the history of the AIDS crisis, the Women’s March, and his personal struggle to get health coverage as an independent musician. With matters like women's rights always an issue to improve on and health coverage a hot topic in politics and government, the lyrics are easy to connect with for any fan.
“It was written to challenge the current state of health care in the United States. It calls out the greed and hypocrisy of denying Americans the right to live based on their income. How can you look somebody in the eye and let them die?” said vocalist Ashley Morgan.
A lot of music between the 60's and 80's was made with messages of challenging cultural and governmental issues. It is a breath of fresh air to see Faultlines bringing such a purpose into this record and deliver with such precision. The instrumental play is clean, specifically the guitar play is smooth through the track. What shines through the most is the beautiful vocals through the whole entire track. Not many artists today try to deliver a track with such a strong message and a quality musical track. Faultlines succeeds in all facets on this track. Let us continue to work on saving ourselves, from ourselves with more powerful messages like Faultlines provided.
Faultlines aspires to make music that brings to life human emotion with tight folk harmonies that warm like the California sun and lyrics that speak to the gritty, universal inter-human experience.
